Under The Milky Way

Under the Milky Way

Lying on a patchwork quilt

Away from city lights; a silvery night

Under a luminous band

Naming constellations

Ten thousand reminders

Over me; proof that we

Have an inheritance uncorruptible

Under God's creation

This is one of the most stunning nightime pics I´ve ever seen.

Yes your poem says it all. (and to think the bible says Almighty God knows each of the stars by name???)

Beautiful.

Ann,

That was an awesome poem, and it reminded me of all the nights when we as teenagers did the same thing. Up high on a hill, as we sat on a blanket looking up at the stars, talking--- way past the time we should--- be home.

Thanks for sharing this with us.

I know Bobbi. We did the same thing. I saw it, but I didn't believe it. Wasn't is awesome, and to top it off we picked out the Big dipper, and saw shooting stars. I loved it. I will never forget it. God put on a show.

anndavis: what a cute poem thank you, but I always thought that a "Milky Way" was a chocolate bar. Ha ha ha!

Ashish, they are really stars. And actually, they are much prettier than that picture. Hope you get to witness it. Just go out (way out) in the country away from city lights, and observe the silvery sky. Come again.

You're on, Donna. I love the night sky too. You know what I do sometime? My son lives in Memphis. I live in Florida. That big old moon is so far away, but it's the same moon there as here. We go outside and enjoy the moon together. Lol. True!

Well done and very thoughtful. This I am sure of when it says: The earth the lords and its fullness thereof. Knowing he is my father , there are no boundaries.

Well done Ann!

anndavis25, Beautiful photo, beautiful poem! A clear night sky recalls for me this promise: "But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust does corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal" (Matthew 6:20).

I have never forgotten the thrill of being awakened to a night sky sparkling with stars and seeing the Little Dipper, completely, for the first time in my life. A breathtaking beauty which is bestowed freely night after night across the millennia.

Well done.

Stessily, Yes, the miraculous night sky is powerful. How can one look at it and not feel the power of God and renew our faith in the scriptures.

I too, remember the first time I saw the big dipper. It's still there. Steady and reassuring.
