A Noble Animal
A beast of goodwill
Running for heartless men, treated ill
stalled up in stables
Left to shiver in the cold
Fed cold 'bits'
Rushed with utmost speed
Racing through a summer heat
Heart beating wild
Reins pulled tight
Tested far beyond their strength
Scraped by curry combs
Clipped nude spots exposed
Driven until lame
Then turned out to pasture
Oh what a noble animal
Oh to be treated so

Secretariat was a fantastic horse. "Big Red" was a hero. Lovely photo of him.
I know nothing but this poem. This is delightful read.

What a magnificent horse Secretariat was! This is an awesome tribute to his memory.
